Both the chicken sausage and the yogurt below may contain fragments of plastic that pose a dangerous choking hazard. The company notified the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) that it had received three consumer complaints about finding pieces of plastic in its Al Fresco Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage product. As of July 18, no one has reportedly been injured after eating the contaminated product. However, the FSIS is concerned that the product could still be in your fridge or freezer. The decision came after customers reportedly discovered pieces of plastic in the toppers, which include mix-ins like Oreos and M&M's. The plastic pieces are clear, can be as large as one inch in length, and may have sharp edges. The fragments can be a serious choking hazard, especially for young children. No variety or size of YoCrunch yogurt is considered safe to eat, the company said. Simply Recipes / Food and Drug Administration On July 14,World Market announced a recallof 9.7-ounce jars of Emek Spread Pistachio Cacao Cream with Kadayif after the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) tested samples of the product and identified traces of salmonella. The recall affects products sold at World Market locations in 32 states. Salmonella is a foodborne illness that occurs anywhere from six hours to six days after eating a contaminated item, according to theCenters for Disease Control & Prevention. Symptoms such as severe stomach cramps, watery diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting can last anywhere between four and seven days. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms and have eaten pistachio cream, head to the doctor.
