Sunisa "Suni" Lee is trading the gymnasium for the runway. On Wednesday, the Olympic gymnast was announced as part of the growing roster of models set to strut down the catwalk during the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show tonight in New York City.

Alongside WNBA star Angel Reese, Lee will make history as one of the first athletes to walk in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. But Lee, a two-time Olympic gold gymnast, is well-versed in making history: She is, after all, the first Hmong American woman and Asian American woman to win a gold medal in the women's gymnastics all-around.

Victoria's Secret Pink, the younger sub-brand of Victoria's Secret, announced Lee's involvement in the fashion show in an Instagram post, alongside the caption "It's official: Sunisa Lee is trading gold for PINK and walking the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show runway tonight. Get ready to watch her make her-story (again). 💖🪽"

The opportunity, Lee told Marie Claire ahead of the show, "felt like a dream" that was outside her comfort zone, which is "exactly why" she agreed to do it. While chatting with the magazine ahead of the show, Lee explained how important it is for her to show young girls that you can do it all — you can be both a gymnast and a model.

"Growing up, I didn't see many girls who looked like me in spaces like this. To now be here as an athlete, as someone who's worked so hard to achieve her dreams, it feels powerful," she said. "I want young girls to know they don't have to fit into just one box. You can chase Olympic gold and still own your femininity."

Limiting yourself, especially as an Asian American woman, Lee explained, isn't necessary.

"I want young girls, especially those who look like me or come from communities like mine, to see that they can own every version of themselves, strong, soft, bold, or glamorous," she added.

According to Marie Claire, Lee will walk the runway during a segment of the fashion show that's dedicated to Victoria's Secret Pink, and she'll do so in good company. Iris Law, actor Jude Law's model-daughter, Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira and YouTuber Quenlin Blackwell are set to walk alongside the gymnast.

Lee didn't reveal too much about her runway look, though she did tell the magazine that she's "obsessed" with it and that "it's literally the coziest thing ever."

"It's like sporty meets glam in the best way," she said.

Though it's her first time strutting a runway, Lee has had her fair share of modeling experience. In the past year, she has modeled for Skims, Kim Kardashian's shapewear brand, in the limited-edition Team USA collection ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics; she was tapped to model for Canadian athleticwear brand Lululemon; she appeared in the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition; she became an ambassador for the sportswear company Hoka; and she was unveiled as the face of Japanese skin care brand Tatcha's Dewy Milk Moisturizer.

While Lee takes pride in her accomplishments as a gymnast, as well as her role model status for young girls who look like her, she hopes people can see her beyondthe beam and bars as well.

When asked by Glamour magazine in 2024 who she is outside of gymnastics, Lee, who recently relocated to New York City, responded: "She's fun, she's energetic, outgoing, very brave. … But not a lot of people see that, and it's something that I want to expand on more. I think fashion can be a really good way to express yourself."
