Patricia Arquette is sharing she's a fan of daughter Harlow's work, and it's not just because she's her mom
The actress tells PEOPLE that she's been "blown away" by her daughter's talent
In addition to Harlow, Arquette is mom to son Enzo
Patricia Arquette is a fan of her daughter Harlow's work — and not just because she's her mom.
The Severance star, 57, spoke with PEOPLE about her new Hulu true crime series, Murdaugh: Murder in the Family, and shared what it's been like watching her daughter, Harlow, 22, step into the industry. Arquette, who is also a mom to son Enzo, 36, said she's "blown away" by Harlow's acting.
"I've seen a lot of her auditions. She'll be like, 'Which one do you think I should send in?' And I'm like, 'Okay, before you show me, do you want to show me? Because forget that I'm your mom, you're a fellow actor, so I'm going to tell you the truth. Do you want the truth? No?' " recalls Arquette.

"And she's like, 'Yeah, I do.' And I was so happy. I'm so blown away by her talent. So this is not because I'm your mom," she jokes. "You're making really interesting choices and decisions. You're so rooted and deep and believable, and I really, just really [am] blown away."
The proud parent also says to "knock on wood" and adds that her own father, actor Lewis, and her grandfather, actor Cliff, would be proud. "I think my dad would be really proud, my grandpa would be proud, my great-grandparents. She's a fifth-generation actor," Arquette says of the acting dynasty.

Elsewhere in the interview, the actress candidly shares the one parenting lesson she's learned that she wasn't great at with her own two kids. "I feel like we all make a lot of mistakes. I don't know if everybody does, but I know I certainly did. I think that we have to really be awake and aware and not get normalized to stuff that's not healthy and to talk through our feelings and hold people accountable," she says.
"And I'm not pointing the finger at [her character, Margaret Murdaugh], I'm pointing the finger at myself, I don't feel that I have been great at that," she continues.

She went on to share more about her personal upbringing and how that shaped who she is as a mother. "I grew up in a family where there were substance abuse issues with my dad and alcoholism and betrayals, and my dad was charming, and I loved my dad, so I definitely got modeled that, and I saw people that was for my mom to look that way," says Arquette.
In January 2024, Arquette and her daughter Harlow chatted with PEOPLE outside of the Apple TV+ Primetime Emmy Awards party, where Harlow revealed she hasn't seen many of her mom's films or TV shows. "I don't watch them!" Harlow shared when asked which of her mom's shows or movies is her favorite.
"I really minimize my work at home," Arquette explained. "I don't really want my kids to see me...Like, 'Let's watch mom?' That's just so weird.
"I never watched it," Harlow added of Severance. "I did watch a little bit of True Romance though, because it came up in a class I was taking. I was like 'Okay.' But I liked that, that was great!"
