His guitar was strapped around his shoulder but left to hang at his side while he held his hands high above his head and clapped along with the crowd. Unfortunately, a platform was rising in the middle of the stage, and the singer missed the lip of the step and went crashing down to the ground. Impressively, though, he bounced back up immediately, returning to his feet and securing his guitar in his hands to dive into the next song in his set. "Happens more than you think," Sheeran himself admitted in the comments, while his social media team quipped in another reply, "This audio is almost word-for-word what we said 🤣🩷." "oh my god, my Sheeran," someone else joked. "I love how quick he got up though," another praised, adding that "Ed is the best to do it." "Carried on like a true pro ❤️," other fans applauded. "We will catch you Ed ❤️," someone else sweetly promised, while another ribbed on him a bit with the comment, "Cant say Im surprised 😂." "Teddy takes a tumble 😙," another joked. Another focused on the important questions, demanding to know, "is the guitar ok tho???" From the video, it appears that that is the case, though there's no official word on any damage—or lack thereof. "poor guitar☹️," another mourned. Heading into its fifth week, the sweeping federal sex-crimes case resumed in Manhattan court on June 2 after Combs' legal team grilled the Grammy-winning rapper's former assistant, awoman going by the pseudonym "Mia,"during cross-examination on May 30. The anonymous witness painted a picture of long-term emotional and professional manipulation, which Combs' attorneys challenged with past social media posts she made about Combs. The defense's direct approach became a point of contention in court, as seen in a 40-minute disagreement between Combs' lawyers and prosecutors about showing a video of Mia singing "Happy Birthday" to Combs. Judge Arun Subramanian watched the video but precluded it as evidence and said the relevance is minimal. Similar to other former employees of Combs, Mia has described a workplace dynamic in which Combs allegedly made repeated threats to maintain control. The ex-assistant, who worked for Combs from 2009-2017, also claims the Bad Boy Records founder sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. Combs, 55, wasarrested in September 2024and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty. During cross-examination on May 30, Combs' attorneyBrian Steelshowed Mia a number of old social media posts. One was a tribute for Combs' 45th birthday, where she wrote, "Happy birthday, Puff Daddy. Thank you for being the good kind of crazy," adding that she loved him with all her heart. Steel remarked that this was five years after Combs first allegedly sexually assaulted her. "When the highs were high and the goods were good, you tried so hard to stay in that," Mia said. Steel pressed her multiple times, saying, "Haven't you said you've been sexually assaulted so many times that you can't even remember?" Mia responded: "I don't remember phrasing it that way." In more emotional testimony on May 30, Mia said she hired an employment lawyer to try to get a settlement from Combs after her work with the music mogul ended, requesting a payment of $10 million; ultimately, she only received $400,000, half of which was taken by lawyers. The woman said she never disclosed her alleged sexual assaults in those transactions, even though she mentioned some of Combs' violence. She told the court that she would have taken her assault allegations aimed at Combs to her grave. While taking the stand on May 30, Mia said Combs emotionally abused her to the point that she now suffers from "complex severe PTSD." Due to her post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis, Mia said she can't get or keep a job because she is triggered by the most minor things, like somebody asking where she is. "I would have to leave (work) because I would be triggered by very normal situations with an overwhelming fear of being in trouble," the witness told the court. She added that "all of those feelings of getting in trouble come flooding back." No, despite recently handing down a flurry of pardons, including one for reality starsTodd and Julie Chrisley,President Donald Trumpdid not include Combs on that list. But thatdoesn't mean he can't. According to Michigan State law professor Brian Kalt, Trump would be within his presidential rights to extend a preemptive pardon to Combs. "These are federal charges so that's the main limit,"Kalt tells USA TODAY. "The matter has (to) be federal, it has to be criminal vs. civil, and related to something that's already been done. But the person doesn't have to even be charged yet or convicted. TheSupreme Courthas said preemptive pardons are OK." When asked about a possible pardon during anOval Office press conferenceon May 30, Trump said he hadn't been approached about the legal matter but added, "I know people are thinking about it." Combs is facing federal sex-crimes and trafficking charges in a sprawling lawsuit that has eroded his status as a power player and kingmaker in the entertainment industry. He wasarrested in September 2024and later charged with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. The rapper has pleaded not guilty to all five counts against him. Racketeering is the participation in an illegal scheme under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Statute, or RICO, as a way for the U.S. government to prosecute organizations that contribute to criminal activity. Using RICO law, which is typically aimed attargeting multi-person criminal organizations,prosecutors allegethat Combs coerced victims, some of whom they say were sex workers, through intimidation and narcotics to participate in"freak offs"— sometimes dayslong sex performances that federal prosecutors allege they have video of. The trial will not be televised, as cameras are typically not allowed in federal criminal trial proceedings. But their numbers have dipped in recent months following a drought-induced drop in prey and conflict with humans. Last August, Namibia authorized theculling of hundreds of animals, including elephants, as part of a plan to feed people in the drought-stricken country. The mauling marks at least the second deadly lion attack in Africa in less than six weeks. It wasa stunning, audacious attackwhose widespread effects are only just becoming clear. Ukrainemanaged tosmuggle 117 aerial drones on the backs of trucksthat deposited them at the perimeter of four Russian air bases — one of them deep inside Siberia some 2,500 miles from Ukraine's borders, according to Ukrainian officials. While there are differing accounts on the extent of the ensuing damage of Sunday's "Spiderweb" operation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said 40 Russian aircraft — 34% ofRussia's strategic cruise missile carriers— were hit. Ukraine's security service, the SBU, put the estimated cost to the Kremlin at $7 billion. Some military commentators and pro-Russian bloggers have called it the country's "Pearl Harbor" — a reference to Japanese attack in 1941 that saw the United States enter World War II. It came Sunday, a day before thelatest round of direct peace talks between Ukraine and Russiaon Monday. There was little optimismfor diplomatic progresseven before the strike, with Ukraine sending its defense minister, Rustem Umerov, but Russia only dispatching the far more junior Putin aide, Vladimir Medinsky, to the Çırağan Palace in Istanbul. The talks were set to begin at 1 p.m. local time (6 a.m. ET). A far more likely outcome isRussia continuing to bomb Ukrainian civilians— this time under the pretext of retaliation, "even though in reality these strikes are planned long in advance," said Keir Giles, a senior consulting fellow with the London-based think-tank Chatham House's Russia and Eurasia program. Less hard to quantify will be the huge blow to Vladimir Putin's pride, with Western analysts in agreement that this was a humiliation for the Russian president. "At a time when Putin seems to think that he is winning on the battlefield, this demonstrates that his forces are in fact very vulnerable," said Sven Biscop, a director at the Egmont Institute, a think tank in Brussels. "This may not change the course of the war, but it does mean that every gain Russia makes will be at high cost." He added it was "quite amazing" that "a significant part of their bomber force" could "be destroyed like that." The strike took a year and a half to plan, according to Zelenskyy, and played out on the eve of the latest round of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul. It's still unclear what impact the surgical strike will have on Monday's negotiations, hopes for which were already dim thanks to the deep divisions between the positions of Kyiv and Moscow. Ukraine says it is ready to sign an unconditional 30-day ceasefire; Russia is essentially demanding Ukraine's surrender. Brokering the talks, President Donald Trump hasshifted from the unambiguously pro-Ukrainian stance of his predecessor, President Joe Biden, and offered concessions to the Kremlin that have outraged many in the West. At the same time, he accused Putin last week of going "absolutely crazy" by continuing to launch regular attacks on Ukraine civilians. Ultimately, he has threatened to walk away from the peace talks if they do not yield the results he once promised he would achieve in just 24 hours. Indeed, overnight into Sunday, Russia launched some 500 attack drones into Ukraine, Zelenskyy said. The night next came 84 more, with at least 10 people killed and dozens more injured across the country, Ukraine's air force said. Other pro-Russia observers are calling for even more drastic measures. "We hope that the response will be the same as the U.S. response to the attack on Pearl Harbor, or even tougher," one Russian military blogger, Roman Alekhin, said on the messaging app Telegram. Another pro-war Telegram channel, Dva Mayora, added that it was "a reason to launch nuclear strikes on Ukraine" —a threat often made by Putinsince launching the invasion three years ago. "We can expect a great deal of sound and fury from Moscow," Giles said. Russia "will be working hard on convincing the United States to attempt to rein Ukraine in, in order to prevent any further damage to Russia's means of bombarding Ukrainian cities with long range missiles," he added. "In a way, the more important question is how the United States reacts, and how eager it is to take Moscow's side and constrain Ukraine," he said.
