Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word 'early.' I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period. I just wanted to be open and share it, 1) because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much, similar and worse. Um, that's the bit that kills me," said the singer. Jessie went on to say that she will be undergoing a double mastectomy later this year, calling it "a very dramatic way to get a boob job." "I'm getting to keep my nipples. That's good. Prosecutors inSean "Diddy" Combs'criminal trialare attempting to show the extreme lengths the hip-hop mogul went to conceal hisalleged pattern of abuse. The Grammy-winning rapper's sweeping federal sex-crimes case resumed in Manhattan court on June 4 after the jury heard from Eddy Garcia, a former security officer at a Los Angeles-area hotel where Combs and former girlfriendCasandra "Cassie" Ventura Finewerecaptured on tapeduring a 2016 altercation. Garcia told the court on June 3 that Combspaid $100,000 for a copy of the video, which showed himkicking, hitting and dragging Cassiein the hallway of the InterContinental Hotel. The attack was first described in Ventura Fine'sbombshell 2023 lawsuit, which accused Combs ofsexual assault, trafficking and more. Combs, 55, wasarrested in September 2024and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty. Frank Piazza, a forensic video expert, is the first witness taking the stand in Combs' sex-crimes trial on June 4. Piazza is expected to answer questions on the much-discussed 2016 video of Combs attacking Ventura Fine in a Los Angeles hotel. Combs' trial is expected to last for approximately eight weeks in total. Judge Arun Subramanian, who's presiding over the sex-crimes trial in New York, has said he's hopeful proceedings will wrap up by the July 4 holiday. The disgraced music mogul is already in custody, and, despite repeated attempts at bail,has remainedconfined to the Special Housing Unit in Brooklyn'sMetropolitan Detention Center. He has been in jail since his arrest on Sept. 16, 2024. Garcia testified on June 3 that he was concerned about being in legal trouble forgiving the video to Combs, particularly if Ventura Fine filed a police report. The former security guard also said Combs told him he "didn't have to worry about it" because she "wanted it gone too." Garcia recalled that Combs asked for his ID, along with information from other security officers on the scene. He asked Garcia tosign a non-disclosure agreementand another document stating he'd provided the only copy of the video. After Garcia signed the documents, he said Combsbrought him $100,000 in a paper bag. Combs asked how he would spend the money, and allegedly advised him not to "make any big purchases." Garcia said he gave $50,000 to his boss, Bill Medrano, $22,000 to the other officer and kept $30,000 for himself. The court saw on June 3 bank statements that seemingly confirmed Ventura Fine's parentswired money to Bad Boyin December 2011 to prevent Combs from leaking tapes of her having sex in hisalleged "freak offs." The statements showed an outgoing wire transfer to Ventura Fine on Dec. 14, 2011, followed by a transfer from Ventura Fine to Bad Boy on Dec. 23, 2011. Days later, those funds werereturned to sender from Bad Boy. Ventura Fine's mother, Regina Ventura, previously testified that she was told she needed to wire Combs $20,000 after hethreatened to release the tapesof Ventura Fine. She said she "was scared for my daughter's safety" and was ordered to "pay Sean Combs because he demanded it." But thatdoesn't mean he can't. According to Michigan State law professor Brian Kalt, Trump would be within his presidential rights to extend a preemptive pardon to Combs. "These are federal charges so that's the main limit,"Kalt tells USA TODAY. "The matter has (to) be federal, it has to be criminal vs. civil, and related to something that's already been done. But the person doesn't have to even be charged yet or convicted. In anInstagram post on May 30, the "In da Club" emcee said he would reach out to Trump after the president said he would "look at the facts" in Combs' case, suggesting a pardon could be on the table. The rapper shared a clip of the president's comments in his post and wrote that Combs "said some really bad things about Trump," adding that he will "reach out so he knows how I feel about this guy." Combs is facing federal sex-crimes and trafficking charges in a sprawling lawsuit that has eroded his status as a power player and kingmaker in the entertainment industry. He wasarrested in September 2024and later charged with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. The rapper has pleaded not guilty to all five counts against him. Racketeering is the participation in an illegal scheme under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Statute, or RICO, as a way for the U.S. government to prosecute organizations that contribute to criminal activity. Using RICO law, which is typically aimed attargeting multi-person criminal organizations,prosecutors allegethat Combs coerced victims, some of whom they say were sex workers, through intimidation and narcotics to participate in"freak offs"— sometimes dayslong sex performances that federal prosecutors allege they have video of. The trial will not be televised, as cameras are typically not allowed in federal criminal trial proceedings. The National Hurricane Center has been tracking an area off the Southeast coast for a chance of tropical or subtropical development the past few days, but the odds of that happening have now diminished. However, a threat of heavy rainfall will remain in play from Florida into the Carolinas. A weather disturbance that has already brought stormy conditions to Florida will spread toward the coastal Carolinas and the offshore waters of the Southeast coast through the end of the week. The National Hurricane Center has been monitoring this system since Monday for a low chance that it could develop tropical or subtropical characteristics. In an update Wednesday morning the NHC said that chance has diminished to 0% since low pressure is expected to form inland over the Carolinas as opposed to over the waters off the Southeast coast. Heavy rain will still be concern in spots despite the fact tropical or subtropical development is not expected. Areas from Florida to the eastern Carolinas could see pockets of heavy rain through Wednesday night. On Thursday and Thursday night, the bulk of any heavy rain will stretch from southeast Georgia to the eastern Carolinas. That could include Savannah, Georgia; Charleston, South Carolina; and Wilmington, North Carolina. Rainfall from this system will exit the Southeast coastline on Friday as the system moves east. Beaches on the Southeast coast could also see choppy surf and a risk of rip currents,so take heed of warningsif you are headed to the beach. This region is no stranger to tropical development for themonth of June. Parts of the Caribbean, Gulf and Southeast coast are all common areas for development this time of year, as shown shaded in yellow below. So the good news is, this is nothing out of the ordinary. Amassive cloud of dust that has traveled thousands of milesfrom the Sahara Desert is expected to reach Florida as early as June 4 before spreading through the Gulf Coast and Southeast later in the week, forecasters said. Most of the dust, which is thought to be about 2,000 miles wide from west to east and 750 miles long from north to south, will remain high in the atmosphere and have little effect on air quality and health for most people, according to AccuWeather. Floridians could start to see hazy or colorful sunrises and sunsets midweek. "This is the biggest Saharan dust plume that we've seen so far this year. It is very common to see large plumes of Saharan dust coming across the Atlantic toward the United States in June and July," AccuWeather Lead Hurricane Expert Alex DaSilva said. "Many people will notice more colorful sunrises and sunsets, and a milky or hazy look in the sky." The dust cloud has covered the Caribbean islands on its way across the Atlantic toward the United States. In Puerto Rico earlier in the week, the cloud was dense and caused hazy skies,according tothe National Weather Service in San Juan. The plume is expected to reach south Florida by June 4, then push further north to the rest of Florida and parts of Georgia and South Carolina by June 5, according to AccuWeather. By the end of the week, it should reach several other Gulf Coast and Southeastern states including Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, AccuWeather reported. The dust is part of a phenomenon known as the Saharan Air Layer, a very dry, dusty mass of air that forms over the Sahara Desert during late spring, summer and early fall, according to theAtlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The dust clouds move over the Atlantic Ocean every few days and can reach as far west as Texas. Saharan dust can have a big impact on storms in the United States, even suppressing hurricanes because of the warmth, dryness and strong winds (25-55 mph) associated with the Saharan Air Layer, the lab said. It can also suppress clouds and thunderstorms. Air in a Saharan Air Layer is about 50% less moist than a typical tropical atmosphere, causing weaker cyclones. "Some areas will experience their hottest days of the summer when the SAL's dry, dusty air is overhead and afternoon thunderstorms are being stifled," the lab's website reads. One of the most noticeable impacts is the vibrant sunsets and sunrises visible during a Saharan dust outbreak. A heavy amount of dust in the atmosphere enhances and prolongs the yellow and red hues we see as the sun's light passes through the atmosphere.
