The new season premieres in September, and a few cast members have already been announced. According to a comment on a TikTok post from DWTS proGleb Savchenko, he seemingly has already been told he has not been invited back for the upcoming season. ABC has not yet shared when the full cast announcement for Season 34 ofDancing with the Starswill be made. Several contestants have been announced, includingRobert Irwin,Alix Earle, and bothWhitney LeavittandJen AffleckfromThe Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. On the evening of August 9, Savchenko posted a new videoon his TikTok page. In the comment section, one fan wrote, "Can't wait to see you on my tv again in September!" The fan's comment was clearly referring to seeing Savchenko as a pro again on Season 34 ofDancing with the Stars. Savchenko replied specifically to that comment, "Afraid you won't." The fan who initially wrote the comment added, "Noooo! Say it isn't so." Another fan wrote, "What do you mean?" In response, Savchenko commented with a sad face emoji. He later added another comment that read, "Not my fault." OtherDancing with the Starsfans shared their disappointment in reaction to Savchenko's comment. "WHAT?? YOU'RE BREAKING MY HEART," one person commented. Another wrote, "Are you messing with us? Are you the source with the fake story? Please say you're trolling!" "So they just didn't sign you this season? You're the only reason I watch," bemoaned another fan. Quite a few fans also took to theDancing with the Starssubreddit to share their thoughts. ST. GEORGE, Maine (AP) — Friends and family of a Maine woman whose killing on a rural pond shocked the community plan to celebrate her life with a maritime service on Sunday. Sunshine Stewart, 48, of St. George, went missing in July while paddleboarding on Crawford Pond, a popular summer destination in Union. She was later founddead, and policechargedDeven Young, 17, of Frankfort, Maine, with murder in connection with her death. Stewart's loved ones are calling Sunday's memorial a "maritime celebration of life." They are holding the memorial at 10:30 a.m. in the Tenants Harbor section of St. George, where Stewart lived. The event will include a procession of vessels in the vicinity of Tenants Harbor, according to the organizers. "On August 10, 2025, family, friends, and community will gather on the sea to honor and remember the radiant life of Sunshine 'Sunny' Stewart — a woman whose light touched every soul she met," promoters of the event said in a social media post. The Office of the Maine Attorney General has said it is seeking to try Young as an adult. A judge will need to rule on that request. Young is due in court for a status conference on Aug. 22. Young made a brief initial court appearance last month in which he entered a denial to the murder charge. His attorney, Jeremy Pratt, has declined to comment. Authorities have released few details about the killing and have not publicly speculated about a motive. Maine State Police spokesperson Shannon Moss said the investigation into Stewart's death is still active and "will be for some time." Stewart lived about 20 miles (34 kilometers) from the pond where she was killed. The pond is popular with boaters and fishermen and is the site of a campground. Police have said a medical examiner determined Stewart's cause of death was strangulation and blunt force trauma. In the weeks since the killing, friends of Stewart have memorialized her as an independent spirit, a dedicated friend and a lover of the ocean and the outdoors. She took a varied career path through life, working as a biologist, fisherman, carpenter and in many other roles, friends said. Bethany Leach Parmley, a lifelong friend, described Stewart as "a really loyal, wonderful friend."

The Trump administration has struggled to broker a peace deal, with Trumpincreasingly lashing out at Putinandthreatening financial repercussionsif he doesn't come to the table. Trumpsaid Aug. 8 during a White House eventthat both Russia and Ukraine would have to give up territory to reach a deal. "You are looking at territory that has been fought over for 3.5 years," Trump said. "We're looking at that. But we're looking at swapping. A White House official said Trump still is open to a summit that includes Zelenskyy, but the administration currently is focused on the meeting with Putin. Then-President Joe Bidenis the last U.S. leader to meet with Putin, during a 2021 summit in Switzerland. Trump and Putin met in Finland in 2018. Both meetings took place before Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Putin claims four Ukrainian regions – Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson – as well as the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which he annexed in 2014. His forces do not fully control all the territory in the four regions. Trump's meeting with Putin could be a pivotal moment in his push for an end to the Ukraine war.
