'SNL' alum Jorma Taccone says he's 'insanely lucky' after 20-foot fall off ladderNew Foto - 'SNL' alum Jorma Taccone says he's 'insanely lucky' after 20-foot fall off ladder

Jorma Taccone, one part of the comedy trioThe Lonely Island, was hospitalized after shattering his pelvis upon falling 20 feet off a ladder at his home. The former "Saturday Night Live" writer borrowed an unsteady ladder from his neighbor to paint a mural for his 5-year-old daughter's birthday, he said from his hospital bed during a Sept. 2 episode of"The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast." After dismissing his neighbor's warning and turning down his friend's offer to hold the structure, the "rickety" ladder began to give way and Taccone said he felt his life flash before his eyes. "I literally have enough time as I'm falling to be like 'I'm going to die,'" he told fellow "SNL" alumsAkiva Schaffer,Andy SambergandSeth Meyers. "And so I drop. I look over (and) I literally see the yard, and I'm like, 'This is going to hurt a lot.' And I fall straight on my butt, taking all the impact on my butt, and then I do a lot of screaming and I'm cursing. Keep in mind it's my daughter's 5th birthday party so it was the coolest way to start the day." Among the injuries, Taccone said the left side of his pelvis was badly injured and his sacrum had detached from his spine, adding, "All of this sounds worse than it is." "I know I'm laughing about it now, but it was probably the most rugged thing I've ever experienced. It's been described as life changing," Taccone said. Taccone clarified that the surgery was successful and doctors have assured him that he should be walking and resuming his day-to-day tasks within three to six months. He said he will attend acute rehab and take medication to ease the pain while he recovers. September marks the end of summer and the start of fall, and Hollywood A-listers are gearing up for spooky season. But before they get in the Halloween spirit, they'll have to get red carpet ready for the MTV VMAs, the 2025 Emmy Awards and dust off their favorite fits forNew York Fashion Week. Here's what celebs are up to this month, starting with Jason Momoa and Oscar Isaac at the Cartier Glory To The Filmmaker Award 2025 red carpet during the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 3, 2025, in Venice, Italy. Scroll through for more. Schaffer said he appreciates Taccone recounting the traumatic experience with a smile on his face but said "as someone from afar that has just been hearing about it, it's been horrible." "It has been a really scary week," Schaffer said. "We're glad you didn't hit your head and that you're not dead." "Oh dude, it's so weird to say but I'm like insanely lucky," Taccone replied. "And then the craziest thing was my doctor came in this morning and was like, 'Oh yeah, if you hit your heels – if you had landed on your heels – it would have been 10 times worse." Meyers and Samberg emphasized that the terrifying news was especially jarring for the comedy group, who typically maintain a sarcastic rapport. "There is that question when you're comedy people, like, how long you let it go before you say something," Samberg said. "We were texting last night. This was like a day and a half post op, I said, 'Not sure if this is the best time to bring up, but do you think the door is officially closed on you dunking now?' And then I immediately panicked and said, 'Dice roll to try a joke this soon, apologies if that was too soon.'" Since then, they've beenseen together several timesin London and New York City. "I'venever talked about my life away from workpublicly and found that it's benefited me positively," he toldRolling Stonein August 2022. "There's always going to be a version of a narrative, and I think I just decided I wasn't going to spend the time trying to correct it or redirect it in some way." Meanwhile, Kravitz was previouslyengagedto herBlink TwicecostarChanning Tatum— though the pair called it quits in October 2024 — andwas linked to Noah Centineoearlier in 2025. So, are Harry Styles and Zoë Kravitz dating? Here's what to know about their rumored relationship. Lyvans Boolaky/WireImage; VALERIE MACON/AFP via Getty Styles and Kravitz have been romantically linked since August 2025, when they were spotted together in Rome. They sparked dating rumors after being seen walking arm and arm together on a stroll, as seen in an Aug. 24 video shared by a fan onX. Just one day later on Aug. 25,Deuxmoireported that the pair had beenspotted kissing at Rita's in Londonthe week prior. More recently, they further fueled romance speculation on Sept. 3, when they were photographed holding hands while taking a walk in Brooklyn, N.Y. Neil Mockford/FilmMagic; Samir Hussein/WireImage In August 2025, a few days after the pair were seen kissing at Rita's in London, a source gave PEOPLE a status check on their relationship. "He's beenspending time with herwhile she's been on her press run," the insider said. While neither have confirmed the romance speculation themselves, Styles previously shared that having his photo taken with someone doesn't mean they are in a relationship. "Sometimes people say, 'You've only publicly been with women,' and I don't think I've publicly been with anyone," Styles toldRolling Stone. "If someone takes a picture of you with someone, it doesn't mean you're choosing to have a public relationship or something." During a March 2020 appearance onThe Howard Stern Show, the "As It Was" singer got candid about his love life, explaining that it can be difficult to date with his level of fame. "It's always kind of a balance thing ... because you want to date normally but then, you also want to protect it so it can be normal," he said, explaining that it's not really a "normal date" to sneak through the back door of a restaurant. "I think a big part of it is like, you want to be able to spend enough time with each other where you can get to know each other before you have to deal with all of the extra stuff," he added. In his conversation withRolling Stone, Styles also discussed why commentary from fans on social media adds another layer of difficulty. "Can you imagine going on a second date with someone and being like, 'OK, there's this corner of the [fanbase], and they're going to say this, and it's going to be really crazy, and they're going to be really mean, and it's not real. But anyway, what do you want to eat?' " he said. Styles added, "It's obviously a difficult feeling to feel like being close to me means you're at the ransom of a corner of Twitter or something. I just wanted to sing. I didn't want to get into it if I was going to hurt people like that." Marc Piasecki/WireImage In February 2022, Kravitz was asked during an interview withEllewhether she feels optimistic about love — leading her to get candid about her philosophy on dating and romance. "I feel optimistic about life, and I think that comes hand in hand with it," she said. "All my relationships in life—my friendships, my romantic relationships, my family—the journey is learning how to show up honestly. Sometimes we can't show up, and that's okay as long as we know how to communicate that we love those people." Kravitz added, "That's the 20-year-old who's like, 'I can do it all. I can do it all. I can do it all.' And now I'm in a place where whatever I'm feeling is okay, wherever I'm at is okay." GEOFF ROBINS/AFP via Getty Elsewhere in his conversation withHoward Stern, Styles shared his thoughts on marriage. When Stern asked if he could picture a world in which he was "married and devoted to one person," Styles said he would "like to be." "It's definitely what I would like to do," the singer said. "I'd like to think I would want that at some point." Meanwhile, Kravitz was previously engaged to Tatum. Multiple sourcesconfirmed their splitto PEOPLE in October 2024. After they parted ways, the actress addressed their breakup in a February 2025 interview withElleand expressed gratitude for their relationship. "I care for him very much," she said, adding that she's "so grateful" for the journey they shared working together onBlink Twice. Read the original article onPeople

Two DC teens arrested in congressional intern's fatal shootingNew Foto - Two DC teens arrested in congressional intern's fatal shooting

WASHINGTON (AP) — Two teenagers were arrested Friday on murder charges in the killing of a congressional intern who was struck by stray bullets during a shooting in the nation's capital — a crime thatPresident Donald Trumpcited inannouncing a law-enforcement surgein Washington. Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, of Granby, Massachusetts, was fatally shot on the night of June 30 near Washington's Mount Vernon Square. Both suspects in his killing — Kelvin Thomas Jr. and Jailen Lucas —are 17-year-old juveniles but are charged as adults with first-degree murder while armed, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro. Police were searching for a third suspect whose name and age weren't immediately released. Tarpinian-Jachym was an "innocent bystander" who wasn't an intended target of the gunfire, Pirro said at a news conference where she was flanked by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and the city's police chief. "Eric didn't deserve to be gunned down, and the system failed him — the system that felt that juveniles needed to be coddled," Pirro said. "This killing underscores why we need the authority to prosecute these younger kids, because they're not kids. They're criminals." Tarpinian-Jachym was a rising senior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was in Washington to work as a summer intern in the office of Rep. Ron Estes, R-Kansas. In July, the House observed a moment of silence after Estes paid tribute to Tarpinian-Jachym, calling him "a dedicated, and thoughtful and kind person who loved our country." "We will never forget his presence and kindness in my office," Estes said. "Those he met in his short term in my office will not forget him, either." Trump mentioned Tarpinian-Jachym's killing — but not his name — during an Aug. 11 news conference where he announced a federal intervention for a "public safety emergency" in the District of Columbia. "Any level of gun violence in our city is unacceptable," Bowser said. Attorney General Pam Bondi said Friday's arrests are "a testament to President Trump's efforts to make Washington, D.C., safe again." "The Department of Justice will continue our work to prevent other young people from suffering the same fate as Eric," Bondi said in a statement. "We hope this brings some measure of solace to his family." The suspects, both district residents, exited a vehicle at an intersection and shot at two people riding bikes, including a 16-year-old male who was wounded, according to Metropolitan Police Department Commander Kevin Kentish. Tarpinian-Jachym was struck by four shots. A woman who wasn't a target also was shot but survived, according to Kentish. Surveillance video helped investigators identify the three suspects, he said. Online court records didn't immediately identify attorneys for the suspects. MPD Chief Pamela Smith said she and Pirro spoke to Tarpinian-Jachym's mother on Friday. "Eric came to our city with a bright future ahead of him," Smith said. "He deserved an opportunity to return home safely to his family, but was senselessly taken from his loved ones." ___ Associated Press writer Alanna Durkin Richer contributed to this report.

Maps show Hurricane Kiko's path as it moves west toward HawaiiNew Foto - Maps show Hurricane Kiko's path as it moves west toward Hawaii

Hurricane Kiko, a powerful Category 4 storm, is swirling in thePacific Oceanand heading west in a direction toward Hawaii. Forecasters warned that swells from the storm could reach the Hawaiian Islands by the end of the weekend and cause life-threatening surf and rip currents. As of 5 p.m. ET, the storm was located some 1,400 miles east-southeast of Honolulu, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center reported in its latest advisory. Its maximum sustained winds were topping 130 mph, and it was moving west-northwest at around 10 mph. The storm is expected to continue strengthening Friday before a "slow weakening" begins Saturday, forecasters said. No coastal watches or warnings were in effect as of Friday. Maps show Hurricane Kiko's forecast path While Kiko is traveling slowly, Hawaii is becoming more in its line of sight for potential direct impacts such as winds and rainfall starting Monday. The main threats are forecast for Tuesday, according to Nikki Nolan, a meteorologist for CBS News and Stations. Acting Hawaii Gov. Sylvia Luke on Friday declared a state of emergency due to the possible inclement weather posed by Kiko. "We urge residents and visitors to monitor updates, follow official guidance and prepare accordingly," Luke said. The National Weather Service in Honolulu is monitoring Kiko's possible impacts and anticipating heavy rainfall leading to potential flooding — along with high surf — early next week. This map details the forecast path of the storm, showing it moving closer to the Hawaiian Islands this weekend: Another map, from the National Hurricane Center, shows that tropical-storm-force winds could start affecting Hawaii on Monday. As theCBS affiliate in Honolulunotes, however, it is too soon to tell where exactly the storm will go in relation to Hawaii, as the forecast track can change. The listing of the rare screen-used prop from theStar Warsuniverse marks the first time a verifiably screen-used Vader Hero Lightsaber has ever been available for sale. After a pre-sale estimate of $1 million to $3 million, the piece of cinema history sold for $3,654,000, making it the highest-pricedStar Warsitem ever sold at auction. No information has been made public about who purchased the one-of-a-kind prop. In 1995,James Earl Jones, who famously voiced Vader in countlessStar Warsprojects throughout his career, toldConan O'Brienit took him only two and a half hours to record Vader's dialogue for the firstStar Warsmovie, making just $7,000for his contribution at the time. When it came time to makeThe Empire Strikes Back, Jones considered doing something a little different with the villain, but Lucas reminded Jones that if something's not broken, you don't fix it. "He said, 'We don't know what we did right, so let's just try what we did.' Naturally, I wanted to make Darth Vader more interesting, more subtle, more psychologically oriented," Jones told theAFIof Lucas. "And he said, 'No, no. What we're finding out is you need to keep his voice on a very narrow band of inflection because he ain't human, really.' " "If he gets too expressive, he seems too human," Jones told O'Brien. That would explain why Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) believed Vader was "more machine now than man." Courtesy of Propstore Brandon Alinger, Propstore COO, commented on the first day of the auction, calling the sale a "landmark moment." "Today's result marks a landmark moment not just for Propstore, but for the entire world of film collecting.
