"I'm excited to announce Live from the Rainbow Theatre withRay Cooper, coming the 25th July on digital, CD and vinyl," he wrote, sharing images from the iconic 1977 performances. "I am incredibly proud of this album. Listening back, I'm astounded by how great it sounds. The freedom I felt playing with just the two of us is something I will always remember. These 1977 show at London's Rainbow Theatre were unlike anything I had done before – just the two of us on stage with the songs we loved – that kickstarted over 230 Ray-and-I-only shows that we would go on to play." See the post here. The release marks the first widespread availability of these historic performances, originally recorded during a six-night residency at London's Rainbow Theatre in May 1977. These shows were thedebut of Elton's stripped-downcollaboration with percussionistRay Cooperand featured the first live renditions of songs like "Roy Rogers," "Cage The Songbird," "Idol," and "I Feel Like a Bullet (In the Gun of Robert Ford)." Previously issued as a limited-edition vinyl forRecord Store Day 2025on April 12, the album will now be available across all digital platforms starting July 25. But that's not all. According to John, the CD and digital editions will include a brand-new bonus track titled "Goodbye," as well as a personally curated 12-song tracklist and additional liner notes.
