In fact, it's got such a devoted fan base that Warner Bros.rereleased it in theatersin September 2023 to celebrate the studio's 100-year anniversary. Though persistent sequel rumors remain unsubstantiated,Ke Huy Quanhas said he would "be open" to stepping back into the character if the opportunity arose. "There was not one [script] that I felt could live up to what the original was,"he explained in 2023."Sadly, we lost the captain of our ship [directorRichard Donner], who I love dearly, and I really don't know if there will beGoonies 2, but I would be open to reliving that character if there is that opportunity." So, while a reboot might not be on the horizon just yet, here's a look at what Quan and the cast ofThe Gooniesare up to these days. He played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Commanders before finishing off his career with the Oakland Raiders — with whom he won two Super Bowls.
