Although she gushed over the "special" moment, her DIY ensemble quickly divided the Internet. Why? Because of her bold color choice. In a post that has since garnered over 2 million views, Fran showed herself working on a vintage-inspired, red three-piece look that she was prepping for her girlfriend's ceremony. However, Fran tells PEOPLE that Rachel "loved" the final result and even found it "hilarious" that strangers on the Internet would have so much to say about her outfit, which actually followed all of the bride's requirements. "There wasn't much of a conversation [around the bridesmaids' dress code]. Rachel provided myself and the others with the color palette and we all naturally gravitated towards a color," Fran tells PEOPLE. "[The bride's] stipulations were that we pick a color from the palette and that it wasn't floor length. I suggested I would make my dress and she was really excited about it." In fact, red was incorporated into Rachel's own bridal looks and the ceremony. "She made both of her veils. They were so gorgeous and the evening one was red," Fran shares. Although she didn't expect her video to reach such a large audience, she's "really grateful to all of the people who were positive about the process." "It was an important thing for me to do and I'm just pleased people enjoyed it as much as I did," she says, adding, "I would encourage those who haven't got anything nice to say, to consider keeping it to themselves."
