Olivia Munn'smother has been diagnosed withbreast cancer. The "Newsroom" star, 45, shared the news in anInstagram post on Wednesday, July 9, more than a year afterrevealing her own breast cancer diagnosis. Munn said that after being diagnosed with breast cancer herself in 2023, she urged her mother to take a breast cancer lifetime risk assessment test. Her mom's high score on the test led her to get an MRI, and she was ultimately diagnosed with breast cancer. Munn said her mom has since completed 12 rounds of chemotherapy. "From my mom being there after my double mastectomy to me being there after hers," Munn wrote in her post. "From me having to find an oncologist, to my mom and I sharing one. I can tell you this: going through cancer is really hard. But there's something about watching a loved one go through it that is even more heartbreaking." Another showed Munn's mother sitting with her son-in-law,John Mulaney. The comedian has joked about Munn's mom in his stand-up,including on "Saturday Night Live" in 2024, when he quipped that his mother-in-law, "who lives with us," is "two feet tall." The "Your Friends & Neighbors" star added that she is "proud" of her mom for handling the diagnosis "with bravery and humor while still driving us crazy," quipping that "just days after her double mastectomy she tried to do laundry and make dinner — she's insane." Munn first shared news of her own breast cancer diagnosis in March 2024. At the time, she said she would not have received her diagnosis for another year had her doctor not decided to calculate her breast cancer risk assessment score.
