Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing after her February abduction – and a reporter who was among the first at Nancy’s Tucson, Arizona, home shared details of the crime scene conditions that were “not typical.”
In an October 21 episode of Brian Entin Investigates, NewsNation’s senior national correspondent spoke with reporter Andrew Christiansen, who previously worked in Tucson but is now in Phoenix.
Christiansen was one of the first journalists to arrive at the 84-year-old’s Catalina Foothills home on Sunday, February 2. Interestingly, he had met Nancy months before — when she and Savannah filmed a segment in her hometown for Today that aired in November 2025 — and recognized her in the missing person’s poster. He confirmed with the Pima County Sheriff that it was indeed Nancy.
“There weren’t that many police lights or deputy lights, so it was very, very dark,” Christiansen shared, of what stood out to him that night at Nancy’s home. “And the sheriff was on scene, Sheriff Chris Nanos, which is not typical of a crime scene. At the time, they were not calling it a crime; she was just a missing person. But it’s not very typical for the sheriff to come out on a missing person case.”

He then admitted, “But I think that’s what kind of struck the chord, like, ‘Wow, this is probably bigger than they’re really saying.'”
Additionally, Christiansen pointed out, “When I got out there, there wasn’t even the police tape. So it was a little different of a scene than you would traditionally see. I’ve seen a lot of scenes, being a news reporter.”
Nancy was last seen on the evening of January 31. Despite investigators releasing photos of a masked suspect on her front porch (“Porch Guy”) and publishing alleged ransom notes, no suspect has been named. Meanwhile, Savannah has also offered a $1 million reward for information leading to an arrest.
