The Ventura County Sheriff’s Communications Center was contacted just after 9 p.m. to check on the elderly couple, who have yet to be identified, after family members couldn’t reach them for a period of time.
Deputies were subsequently assigned to the Camarillo Police Department and arrived at the residence on Tahquitz Court where they discovered the bodies, according to a Ventura County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The sheriff’s office said a firearm was recovered at the scene. However, it’s unclear if the weapon is connected to their deaths.
An investigator with the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the home to coordinate with detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau.
