The 45-year-old mom of three, known as Dr. Hannah Terry, was found dead at the family’s home in Dersingham, England — near King Charles’ Sandringham estate — on Sunday, Oct. 4

Hannah worked as a doctor at a local medical practice and treated members of the royal family, according to a U.K. media outlet

A man has been charged with murdering his wife after she was found dead at their home near King Charles’ Sandringham estate.

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Mark Cain was charged with the murder of 45-year-old Hannah Cain, who was found dead at a property in Dersingham, England, on Sunday, Oct. 4, less than two miles away from Charles’ estate, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said in a press release on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

“The CPS has decided to prosecute Mark Cain for the murder of Hannah Cain following a police investigation into an incident at her home in Dersingham,” said the CPS, which is working with Norfolk Police on their investigation. “Our thoughts remain with the family of Hannah Cain at this time.”

At around 2:20 a.m. local time on Sunday, police were called to a property where a woman in her 40s was found dead. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder, PEOPLE previously reported.

Norfolk Police also confirmed the charges, saying in a press release on Tuesday the defendant “was arrested after the woman’s body was found at an address in Fern Hill in the early hours of Sunday.”

The defendant appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and judge ordered him to remain in custody. He will return to Kings Lynn Crown Court on Thursday, per a police release obtained by PEOPLE.

Prosecutor Jackie Hanlon told the court the ambulance service contacted the police at 2:25 a.m. local time on Sunday. She said Cain was found “in an upstairs bedroom not breathing, not conscious,” the BBC reported.

Hanlon said a post-mortem examination determined a “blunt force injury to the right side of her head had been inflicted, also an injury that could be suggestive of compression of the neck,” per the outlet.

Hannah, known professionally as Dr. Hannah Terry, worked as a doctor at Grimston Medical Centre, per The Times and The Telegraph.

According to The Sun, Hannah was a doctor for the royal family. Sources told the outlet that King Charles and Queen Camilla had been informed of her death.

Mike is a self-employed director of Mammoth Energy Solutions Ltd, per The Times. According to the outlet, Hannah and Mike shared three sons who were born in 2013, 2015 and 2018.

She was hosting a sleepover for their children’s friends on Saturday night at their home, before she was found dead the next day, according to the outlet and The Telegraph.

Grimstone Medical Centre said in a statement following her death, “The practice will not be commenting on the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of our colleague, Dr Hannah Terry. Any official updates will come from Norfolk Police.”
