Megyn Kelly tells Olivia Rodrigo to “shut up and stick to singing” for supporting Jane Doe in Cornell rape case.
Otherwise, the conservative YouTube host warned, “I guarantee it’s not going to end well for you, Olivia.”
Kelly reacted to Rodrigo saying Jane Doe “deserves answers, consequences, and lasting change.”
After Olivia Rodrigo proclaimed that she stands with the Cornell rape case’s Jane Doe, Megyn Kelly is telling the singer to “sit down and be quiet.”
The conservative commentator went on a tirade on her YouTube channel, provoked by Rodrigo’s public support of the young woman who alleges she was sexually assaulted in October 2024 by seven Chi Phi members at the Ivy League university. According to Kelly, the Grammy winner doesn’t “know what the f--- you’re talking about” and should “shut up and stick to singing.”
“I liked you better when you were in front of a microphone singing your weird little depressing songs,” she continued. “It’s better to keep your mouth shut and let people suspect you’re an idiot than to open it and prove them right. Ever hear that saying? It applies to you, sweetheart.”

Kelly seemed particularly perturbed by a repost on Rodrigo’s Instagram Stories that demanded “economic reparations” for rape survivors, such as full scholarships and funding for therapy.
“Adults are talking... We don’t need the participation of know-nothing morons who have been auto-tuned into fame and suddenly think they have something profound to say on the culture wars,” continued the journalist — whose NBC News show, Megyn Kelly Today, was canceled in 2018, following remarks she made about the appropriateness of “blackface” for Halloween costumes.
If Rodrigo didn’t “sit down and be quiet” about the issue, warned Kelly, “I’m going to have to start pulling your music and your lyrics and take a deep dive into exactly the kind of messaging that you are pushing on young women. I guarantee it’s not going to end well for you, Olivia.”
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to a representative for Rodrigo for comment.
Kelly’s rant was in response to a post Rodrigo made on Sunday, in which she shamed Cornell “and every institution who protects rapists and abusers over women.”
The singer also praised Jane Doe for her “bravery” and vowed that “the crimes against her will not go unpunished. What she lived through matters, and so does the failure of those who could have intervened but chose not to. She deserves answers, consequences, and lasting change.”

During her YouTube diatribe, Kelly said her main complaint with the case is the alleged victim remaining anonymous while the accused young men — whom she described as “nothing to write home about” — have been publicly identified.
“What’s being done to them now, threatening with decades of imprisonment over what was clearly a consensual, if disgusting, night at the Chi Phi House, is deeply wrong,” she insisted. “That’s deeply wrong morally.”
