Meryl Streep is “super chill” to work with, according to her Mamma Mia! costar Amanda Seyfried.

Streep and Seyfried played mother and daughter in both Mamma Mia! films.

There is one way actors can bungle a scene with Streep, however, her castmate revealed.

Honey, honey, how Meryl Streep thrills everyone she works with.

Amanda Seyfried opened up about what it was like to work with Streep, who played her mother in both Mamma Mia! films. When asked by Alec Baldwin about her experience with the 77-year-old, Seyfried said that the actress reminded her “to stay present” during their scenes.

“She’s super chill and always honest in every performance,” she told Baldwin during a conversation at the Hamptons International Film Festival on Oct. 4, per PEOPLE. “It’s just you could have a script written by the worst computer and she would make it make sense and feel authentic.”

There’s very little an actor can do to mess up a scene with Streep, although Seyfried revealed the one way a person might.

“You can’t go wrong, unless you are intimidated,” she said. “And then you can, you can totally just ruin the vibe.”

The duo were in the star-studded cast of 2008’s Mamma Mia!, which included Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, and Dominic Cooper. The cast returned for the sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again in 2018, which also featured Cher and Lily James. Streep’s character Donna had only made a brief appearance as a ghost at the end of that film, as Donna had died between the events of the first and second movie.

Still, as the producers and cast of Mamma Mia! consider making a third film, they have been thinking of ways to include Streep in a new installment. In fact, Universal Pictures Chairwoman Donna Langley said in February that “there will be a Mamma Mia 3” and that they will “find a way to bring her back.”

As for whether Streep would return or not, she has said she is open to returning to the movie musical.

“I’m up for anything,” Streep told Vogue in 2023. “I’ll have to schedule a knee scoping before we film, but if there’s an idea that excites me, I’m totally there.”
