I was prepared to admire a nice button down and move along, but then Anthropologie’s Maeve Mabel Embroidered Oxford Shirt showed me a little Golden Retriever peeking out of the pocket. He even has his tail poking out, which feels like an intentional attack who cannot see a dog without making a noise.

The shirt is made from 100% cotton, with a button front, a boxy fit and cuffed sleeves that hit around the elbows. A softly gathered back adds room and movement, giving it an easy shape for wearing with jeans or dressing up a little when you need to look like you have plans beyond buying cat food.

It comes in standard, petite and plus options and is machine washable, which is useful because I do not want my everyday clothes requiring more specialized care than my actual pets. The little embroidered Golden gets to stay adorable while the rest of the shirt gets on with being wearable.
