Adorable Cocker Spaniel-Shar-Pei Mix Looks Like a Little Hippo Made of Cookie Dough

This is the sweetest puppy!
When it comes to dog breed mixes, it feels like the possibilities are literally endless. Around every corner, there’s another new breed I’ve never heard of! I’d think, at one point, I would have seen it all… And then a Cocker Spaniel-Shar-Pei mix comes along and proves me wrong.
It gets even cuter, if that were possible. Recently, someone posted a video of a Cocker Spaniel-Shar-Pei puppy, and he was so cute it hurt. He looks like the tiniest, fluffiest cookie-dough-covered hippo:
This little puppy is from Mini Hippo Land, which specializes in this breed. They’re typically referred to as the “Cocker-Pei,” and as you can clearly see, they’re almost too cute! My favorite part about him is his little droopy eyebrows. The rest of him looks like a warm, half-baked cookie!
He’s only a few weeks old in this video, but it looks like they’ve already decided to keep him: his coloring, cute tail, and aggressively adorable face make him hard to give up. They’ve named him Lucky, which totally fits him!

This mix is truly something else. Shar-Peis are really wrinkly, but they’re usually not very fluffy. Cocker Spaniels, on the other hand, are fluffy and not very wrinkly at all. The end result of mixing them together? A super fluffy Shar-Pei, basically:
This dog is still a puppy, too, though he’s closer to full-grown than Lucky. You can see what he’ll look like as an adult! His “puppy fluff” continued to grow, producing this slightly curly, mostly fluffy coat. I’m obsessed!
More About the Cocker-Pei
It’s hard to see a fluffy, cookie-dough-covered hippo and not immediately want one. Lucky looks like the sweetest boy ever, and from what Mini Hippo Land has said about him, he really is! However, this is not a breed for everyone, and especially not a breed for beginners.

The Cocker-Pei is loyal and clingy. They love their favorite humans, and they’ll want to be near you at all times. However, when it comes to outsiders, they can be a little less inviting. Socialization is incredibly important with this breed, and they’re prone to:
Stubborn streaks that make training difficult.
Biting, which you can train out of them, but you will need to be consistent.
Skin infections in all of their wrinkles.
Breathing issues, since most have that smushed face.
Having a Cocker-Pei will take a lot of time and attention. They thrive with routine and consistency, but if you can manage it, maybe these little cookie dough hippos would be right for you!
