Cats are really incredible animals, and they have a unique ability to look at something that their human purchased and find a perfectly cat reason it should be theirs. Whether it’s an empty cardboard box, a fresh, warm pile of clean laundry, or even a piece of furniture, almost anything can become the perfect toy they didn’t know they wanted.

In this video, we meet an orange British Shorthair cat who discovers the family’s brand-new ladder and wastes absolutely zero time claiming it. In his mind, the ladder is his, and watching him is just so silly. Take a look!

On October 6, TikTok user Max the Britty Kitty (@masthebrittykitty) shared a video of a very fluffy, round orange British Shorthair cat named Max, who has a personality to match his cute looks.

In this clip, he seems to have declared himself king of the castle as he perches on a short stepladder like it’s the tower of his kingdom. The on-screen text plays this up with his family joking that he’s treating this home maintenance tool as if it were his unique cat tower.

He could have anything he wants because his round face and giant eyes make it hard to argue with him.

In the comments, people shared how this sweet cat’s video made them feel, but mostly there were just cute reaction stickers as responses, which makes so much sense.

In other videos shared of Max, we get to see more of his personality, and he’s such a cute hamball. He loves going for walks in the stroller, staying hydrated, stealing his mom’s chair, making the perfect loaf, and getting cuter with every new video.

Why Cats Love Climbing and How Vertical Spaces Support Their Physical and Mental Health

Max, the Britty Kitty, loves to stand on that ladder, and that makes a lot of sense because he’s a cat, and cats love high places. Experts say felines like to be up high because it’s instinctual.

PetMD explains that a cat’s predator-prey instinct drives them to avoid being hunted and to hide, so any vertical height they can access is a huge advantage for them. This allows them to survey the area when they’re elevated and get a good look at their space from a secure location so they can rest, eat, or just chill.

That’s why elevated spaces matter for your kitty’s health. Creating vertical space gives them the perch they instinctively seek. Hanging hammocks, cat shelves, or cat trees are great options to add to the home.

But silly Max proves even something like a ladder could be useful in your cat’s eyes.
